Community based surveillance complements conventional facility
based surveillance and possess great potential to improve the sensitivity of surveillance system. This finding reviled that, VCMs significantly contributed not only in AFP case detection and reporting but also early detection of AFP cases when compared with HF presented cases by two and half days.

Immunization is one of the most powerful and cost-effective public health interventions to prevent devastating illness and disability. Immunization program in pastoral communities needs locally sound and proven approaches to increase immunization uptake. Estimates of
immunization coverage rates in Ethiopia varied widely, but were consistent in that polio birth dose coverage is much lower than other antigens, particularly in semi-pastoralist and pastoralist areas.

Significant portion of health professional unable to identify
correct date and dose of vaccination. Special attention should be given for vaccine and other material placement in vaccine refrigerators and corrective training and other
mechanisms shall be design. Vaccination related basic and
refresher training shall be designed for health center health workers.

Immunization service availability and readiness in the hard to reach zones of Ethiopia: Quantitative Study, APHA 2018

The majorities of health centers provided immunization service and
had national EPI guidelines but less than 50% provided immunization service daily. In relation to number and quality of health workers, 70.2% reported insufficient number or poor quality or both. Therefore, avail sufficient number of trained health worker, increase number of vaccination dates and means of transportation are important for future better achievements of immunization services.

Role of religious leaders and knowledge of caretakers on child immunization in hard to reach and pastoralist communities in Ethiopia, APHA 2018

Caretakers trusted the words of the religious leaders and committed to change in to action. Engaging religious leaders on immunization is crucial to reach marginalized and unreached communities. Caretakers knowledge and practice on immunization has shown improvement due to the involvement of religious leader. Partners and government should continue engaging the religious and other influential leaders to improve immunization program and ensure sustainability through community ownership.

Assess Community Based Surveillance: A successful strategy to hunt hidden AFP cases in hard to reach and underserved communities in Ethiopia, APHA 2018

Community engagement using CVs, who are member of the community is an effective way of supporting the families and communities. The
government health system and CGPP need to encourage CVs to feel that they are part of the health system through supportive supervision and appropriate training, provision of promotional materials and job aids help to improve quality of performance. Non-monetary incentives can motivate CVs and provide a sense of pride in their work and increased status in their communities.
